Cozy Apart helps couples share a private digital home. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

• Account information: your email address, display name, timezone, password credential, and sign-in provider identifier when you create or connect an account. If you sign in with Apple, we also keep a token Apple issues for your sign-in, encrypted, only so that we can ask Apple to revoke Cozy Apart's access when you delete your account.
• Shared content: messages, notes, plans, memories, photos, videos, attachments, reactions, and other content you choose to create or share in a space.
• Device and service information: session and security records, app settings, notification preferences, and information needed to deliver push notifications when you enable them.
• Optional location: your device location when you explicitly enable the distance feature. We send it to our server to calculate the distance between you and your partner. Turning the feature off removes the active shared location record.
• Purchases: when you buy coins or subscribe to Cozy Plus through the App Store or Google Play, we receive a transaction record or purchase token from the store (such as the product, dates, renewal and refund status, and store transaction identifiers) so we can provide what was bought to your space. We never receive your card or payment details.
• Usage events: a small first-party record of actions inside the app, such as viewing the subscription screen, starting or finishing a movie night, or completing a mission. These records contain no message text, photos or names, are kept on our own servers, and are not shared with advertising or analytics companies.
• Support information: information you send when you contact us about the service.

How we use information

We use information to provide and secure Cozy Apart, synchronize shared spaces, authenticate accounts, deliver requested notifications, prevent abuse, respond to support requests, maintain backups, and improve reliability. We do not use the content of your shared space to serve third-party advertising.

When information is shared

Content you intentionally place in a shared space is visible to the other members of that space. We may share information with service providers that host databases, files, authentication, email, notifications, or infrastructure on our behalf. Those providers receive only what is needed for the service to operate. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the service and its users, or as part of a business transfer.

If you have turned on the optional distance feature, the weather shown in your shared home is looked up from Open-Meteo, a weather service, using your position rounded to roughly eleven kilometres. No account details or identifiers are sent with that request. Turning the distance feature off stops it.

Retention and deletion

To request deletion of your Cozy Apart account and its associated data without opening the app, email support@foretellhq.com from the address on your account. We may ask you to verify that the account is yours. If you have a Cozy Plus subscription, cancel it separately in your Apple Account or Google Play settings to stop future billing.

We keep information while your account is active or as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal or security obligations. You can request account deletion from the app where that control is available or contact us at support@foretellhq.com. Deletion removes the account and associated service data subject to limited backup, fraud-prevention, or legal retention requirements.

When you delete your account, everything you made is deleted with it: your messages, notes, letters, voice notes, photos, plans, memories, check-ins and answers, and your photos are taken down from the home. A home belongs to both partners, so if you share one, your partner keeps it and what they made in it (the house, its rooms and furniture, the pet, the garden, the coins and progress), and can invite someone new into it or start again. If you are the only person in your home, the home is deleted too. Usage events are kept only as anonymous counts, with your account identifier removed. If you signed in with Apple, we also ask Apple to revoke Cozy Apart's access to your Apple ID. Deleting your account does not cancel a Cozy Plus subscription: it keeps billing until you cancel it in your Apple Account (or Google Play), and while it does it no longer covers the home you left.

When you leave a home you share, your partner keeps it and everything in it, as above. What you wrote there (your messages, notes, letters, plans, memories, wishes, lists and check-ins, with their photos and voice notes) is taken out of the home and kept for you alone, read-only, under Your history. Your photos come down from the frames, and your words on things that stay in the home (a card on a present, a star you named, the neighbours' chat, a note in a guestbook) are removed. You start afresh, and can make a new home or join someone's. If you block your partner, you keep the home and they leave it in the same way, with a read-only copy of what they wrote that only they can see, and your two accounts cannot pair again unless you unblock them. Cozy Plus stays with whoever pays for it, and nobody is moved out of the house they live in when it ends.

Your choices

You can update account details, control notification and optional location settings, export available account data, and delete your account. You can also contact us to ask about access, correction, deletion, or a privacy question.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a unique password and protect access to your devices and sign-in accounts.

The Watch together browser extension

Cozy Apart — Watch together is an optional extension for Chrome and Edge that keeps your own Netflix or YouTube player in step with your partner's during a movie night. It is covered by this policy, and this section says exactly what it does with information.

• What it holds: the one-use connection code you paste in, and the room-scoped token Cozy Apart gives back for it, together with the identifier of the movie night and which browser tab is taking part. These are kept in the browser's extension session storage, which web pages cannot read and which your browser clears when it closes. They are sent only to https://api.cozyapart.app, only in a request header, and never appear in a web address.
• What it sends: while you are the host, the playback position of the connected tab, whether it is playing or paused, and the film's length, so your partner's player can follow. When you choose to move the night to another episode, the title of that page becomes the movie night's new name. That is all.
• What it never does: it never receives, carries, copies or re-broadcasts any video; it never sees or stores your Netflix, YouTube or other streaming password; it never reads your browsing history or any page other than the one tab you connected; it never skips, blocks or hides advertising; and it contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code of any kind.
• Where it runs: only on Netflix and YouTube pages where a film plays, and only on the single tab you connected. It runs nowhere else.
• How to end it: disconnect in the extension, end the movie night in Cozy Apart, sign out, or close your browser — any of those ends its access immediately. Removing the extension removes everything it held.

Each of you watches through your own account with the streaming service. Your relationship with that service, and what it collects, is between you and them.

Children

Cozy Apart is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Cozy Apart changes. We will update the date above and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or by email.
