Cozy Apart is a private shared home for two people who live apart. This page is where to get help with the app and with the Cozy Apart — Watch together browser extension.
Getting in touch
Email support@foretellhq.com. We answer in English. Please include the device or browser you were using, roughly when it happened, and what you saw — and never send us your password or a connection code.
The Watch together extension
The extension keeps your own Netflix or YouTube player in step with your partner's during a movie night. Each of you watches through your own account with the service; Cozy Apart never carries the video, never handles your streaming password and never removes or skips advertising.
Setting it up
- Open tonight's film on Netflix or YouTube in a tab on your computer.
- In Cozy Apart on your phone (or the web app), open Movie night and choose Get connection code. Each of you makes your own code; a code can be used once and lasts five minutes.
- Click the Cozy Apart button in your browser's toolbar, paste the code and choose Connect this tab.
Whoever started the movie night is the host. The host plays, pauses and skips; the other player follows. A connection lasts up to twelve hours and ends when the movie night ends, when you sign out of Cozy Apart, or when you close your browser.
When something isn't right
- “This tab is playing something else.” The extension only ever drives the exact film your movie night is for. Use the button to open the room's film, or — if you are the host — move tonight's film to what this tab is playing.
- “Waiting for your host.” Your partner's computer stopped sending updates. Your film is held where it is and picks up again when they are back.
- “Your browser wants a click.” Browsers will not start playback on their own. Press play once in the tab.
- “This connection has ended.” The movie night finished, someone signed out, or twelve hours passed. Make a new code in Cozy Apart.
- An advert is playing. We wait it out. We never skip, block or hide advertising on any service.
- Netflix. The extension drives Netflix's own player through an interface Netflix does not publish, so a Netflix update can stop it working. If you see a message about Netflix's player, reload the tab; if it keeps happening, tell us which country and plan you are on.
What it costs
Three movie nights a month are free for every couple; Cozy Plus makes them unlimited, for both of you. Streaming subscriptions are separate. The extension itself costs nothing and needs no subscription of ours: it connects to a movie night you have already started in Cozy Apart, whether that night was a free one or a Plus one. A Netflix or YouTube subscription is between you and that service, and is not sold by us.
Removing it
Remove the extension from your browser's extensions page. Everything it held — the connection for tonight — is kept only for the life of the browser session and goes with it. Ending the movie night in Cozy Apart also ends every connection to it straight away.
